Get involved
Senators Cycling runs entirely on volunteers. Every practice, race weekend, and fundraiser happens because a parent or community member stepped up. No cycling experience required for most of these, and a few hours makes a real difference.
Ways to help
Race-day crew. Help set up and stock the team tent, hand out water and snacks, and cheer at feed zones. Five race weekends from August through October.
Host a team dinner. Feed hungry riders the night before a race or after a big practice. We'll bring the kids; you bring the pasta.
Become a coach. NICA trains and certifies you. Level 1 takes an afternoon online plus a background check; the league reimburses wilderness first-aid training for Level 2 and 3. Start here.
Ride sweep or shuttle. Ride at the back of a practice group, or drive riders and bikes to trailheads. A license and a hitch rack go a long way.
Volunteer at a race. The league needs course marshals, timing help, and registration volunteers at every event, including our home race, the Capital City Crusher. Sign-ups are on the Nevada North race schedule.
Help with fundraising. Coordinate the annual Trek fundraiser, reach out to local businesses, or staff a booth at the Nevada Day parade.
Join the board. Kit Carson Youth Cycling, our 501c3, has a small volunteer board that meets monthly. We especially need help with bookkeeping, grants, and communications.
Pass a bike along. Outgrown a mountain bike? Donate it to our loaner fleet so a new rider can try the sport for free.
Ready?
Send us a note with what you'd like to help with, or just talk to a coach at practice. Every volunteer who works directly with riders completes a free NICA background check.
